Adjusting the length of your existing
curtains, edging them with a new
fabric or making new tiebacks can be all you need to
do.
A warning though: you will have to wash
fabric curtains often if you don't want them to become tie - dyed with mildew.

This is EXACTLY what I need to
do, I want sheer
curtains for daytime privacy and a solid
fabric to block out the light at night but the thing is I'm starting from scratch!
You don't have to have fancy linens either, look for things you have around the house like maybe unused
curtains,
fabric pieces, burlap, sheets, pretty kitchen towels, canvas drop cloths, bed coverlets, quilts or blankets.

did get a kick out of the use of the horizonal striped

do the trick in summer, but when the evenings start to get cooler, swap light
fabrics for heavier - weight lined
curtains that will block draughts and insulate the room, so you stay good and cosy.

curtains, painting my island, and maybe even painting the cabinets.

did the same thing on are screened in front porch in Florida, but instead of using drop clothes I used shower
curtains (green to match my shutters) so I didn't have to worry about
fabric being ruined / mold and also used conduit.

In the family room we added that soft subtle ruffled bottom to it puddles a little, and the white
curtains in the living room (below) are softer
fabric as well so I don't mind if they puddle just a little bit.

fabric to the bottom of two lovely cotton print shower
curtains from Target to make them long enough, folded over and sewed down the top hem to hide the buttonholes, added clip rings, voila, speedy magic and the right print for way less than the cost of purchasing an equivalet yardage from Joann's.

curtains but doesn't cost more than $ 6.00 a yard so you can cover that bench you bought because it was the last one and not the right color?
I just
did this to my porch with a dark brown
fabric shower
curtain liner 84 ″ with a sheer crinkle taupe
curtain on top.
I didn't read all the comments but wanted to mention that a cheap way to get a thicker cut of
fabric is a shower
curtain.
Unfortunately, I ran out of hem tape and had about a foot of
curtain left to hem so I tried
fabric glue instead (cause I don't sew) and it didn't work nearly as well.
I didn't originally intend for the room to have the burnt sienna and mustard / gold accents but they are present in the
curtain fabric and they worked really well with the «Dimpse».
Similarly, I'd choose a solid colour
fabric in a medium tone for a sofa,
do something similar for the
curtains, but buy something a little more «out there» for the cushions and accessories.
If your
fabric choice is medium to heavyweight or you have a blackout blind, you can get away without lining your
curtains, although they will hang better if you
do.
If your
curtain fabric is sheer or very lightweight and lining would make them look too heavy, don't be tempted to scrimp on the width — they should look full and billowing, not limp.
