smartphones are made
of plastic, but the Vivo V9 feels better in the hand thanks to its
curved sides and less weight.
Albeit, even the most frivolous Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge followers are aware that the
smartphone has gentle
curves on the right and left
sides of the screen, a few who haven't used this phone themselves may have a bigger surprise coming up, as now the
curved edge has been applied to the top and bottom as well.
And lastly, Samsung's third
smartphone design
of interest noted below illustrates that the backside
of this
smartphone has
curved edges matching the front
side design.
While, a couple
of reports, including a recent one by Android Headlines claim that the new
smartphone is dubbed as ZUK Edge, it is expected to sport a
curved display on its
sides, pretty much like Samsung Galaxy Note Edge.
Korea - based Samsung has been pushing out Galaxy
smartphones for a number
of years with a
curved element on each left and right
side.
Curved edges run on both
sides of the display and slim bezels than the last year's Nokia 8 flagship
smartphone.
Instead
of having a display that
curves to both
sides, like the Infinity Displays on Samsung's recent Galaxy S and Note
smartphones, Apple's
curved display will span from the top to the bottom.
The backside
of the
smartphone is greatly inspired by Galaxy S6's lines with its
curved sides and flash - camera combo.
The display would be used to show small bits
of information, such as the current weather, the song playing or the date, so it works in a similar fashion to the
side display on Samsung's
curved screen
smartphones.
However, it is being rumored that the screens on the upcoming
smartphones curve on all the
sides, so there will be minimal impact on the physical size
of these devices.

I believe the chamfered edges along the
sides are meant for grip, as I could hold it a lot more comfortably when the chamfered edges dig into my fingers and palm, instead
of the much smoother
curves of the rather similar looking fruity
smartphone.
The Galaxy Note Edge features a world - first on a
smartphone, a screen that
curves around the right
side of the handset, adding an extra 160 pixels
of width to the main 5.6 - inch display area.
This
smartphone is made out
of metal and glass, and it comes with a
curved glass panel on both its front and back
sides, even though its display is not
curved,
of course.
The way the back
curves to sit perfectly in your hand; the way the glass face spills over the
sides and continues the lines
of the polished, chamfered edges; the way the micro-drilled holes that cover the speakers give the phone personality; all these fantastic design elements combine to create a truly unique and gorgeous
smartphone.
The screen is once again framed by thin black lines which give the impression that this
smartphone has an edge to edge display, an illusion which is further enforced by the low reflectivity
of the AMOLED display and the soft 2.5 D
curves where the glass meets the metal
sides.
In the design, Samsung seems to be working on a foldable
smartphone that can be rolled like a newspaper and has a book - like design with one
side featuring a
curved edge, an emulation
of what the company had on the 2014 Samsung Galaxy Note Edge.
Much has been made
of rumors that the
sides of the iPhone 8's display will be
curved, and people have been quick to assume Apple is planning a design similar to what we've seen on Samsung's Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy Note 7, and several other Samsung
smartphones.
The chamfered
sides might call to mind other
smartphones, while the combination
of a flat back with slightly
curved edges is definitely an HTC 10 mark.
That's exactly what the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge hopes to do by adding a gentle
curve that wraps around the right
side of a Note
smartphone.
