We found a direct significant negative effect of linear
workload on marital satisfaction (i.e., not mediated by detachment; 95 % CI for θ = − 0.07 is − 0.12 to − 0.02), whereas our results did not indicate a significant relation between the squared effect of
workload and marital satisfaction (95 % CI for θ = 0.01 is − 0.03 to 0.05)

daily - level.
We demonstrated the existence of a curvilinear relationship —
on top of the already acknowledged linear relationship — between
workload and psychological detachment and a linear relationship between detachment and marital satisfaction, before examining and illustrating the mediating role of detachment — as defined in the stressor - detachment model — in the
daily relationship between
workload and marital satisfaction.
