«A lethal combination
of increased occurrence and severity
of bleaching, along with
ocean acidification, will mean that already severely
damaged reefs will undergo a catastrophic decline in the next 40 years,» warns Rogers.
When the intensity
of storms becomes more frequent, coral skeletons are likely to become more susceptible to breakage under
ocean acidification and therefore more susceptible to storm
damage.
Reports
of damaging ocean acidification, accelerating sea - level rise or unprecedented decreases
of polar and glacial ice are also mostly myths designed to terrify people into accepting harmful policies that allegedly «save the planet.»
Alarmed at the pace
of change to our Earth caused by human - induced climate change, including accelerating melting and loss
of ice from Greenland, the Himalayas and Antarctica,
acidification of the world's
oceans due to rising CO2 concentrations, increasingly intense tropical cyclones, more
damaging and intense drought and floods, including glacial lakes outburst loods, in many regions and higher levels
of sea - level rise than estimated just a few years ago, risks changing the face
of the planet and threatening coastal cities, low lying areas, mountainous regions and vulnerable countries the world over,
Ocean acidification, also largely caused by coal - burning, will change the ecology
of the
oceans and combine with the warming
of the
oceans caused by climate change to destroy the worlds coral reefs and
damage fisheries.

You might think that as a member
of the Australian parliament, at a time when changing from fossil fuels to renewables is top priority if the
damage from climate change and
ocean acidification are to be limited, Mr Ramsey would be singing the praises
of this wonderful local achievement, but no, all he can manage is negativity.
Meanwhile, a U.N. report predicted $ 1 trillion in annual

This study
of course does not take away very different concerns related to stratospheric aerosol SRM geoengineering, like possible
damage to the ozone layer [which in turn would be good news if you hate waiting for that spring tan] and the fact that allowing CO2 concentrations to keep rising presents other problems, like the necessity to never stop with the active process
of SRM geoengineering, and increasing ecological
damage caused by
ocean acidification.
An «inherent bias» in scientific journals in favour
of more calamitous predictions has excluded research showing that marine creatures are not
damaged by
ocean acidification, which is caused by the sea absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
LONDON, 4 May 2017 —
Ocean acidification and global warming between them could severely
damage the health
of the
oceans.
If we increase the amount
of wind power we will slow down the climate change and
ocean acidification that otherwise will greatly
damage the world that our children and grandchildren inherit.
The kind
of things I'm referring to are more frequent and intense heatwaves, flooding and droughts, sea level rise and its associated impacts, glacier melt,
damage to sensitive ecosystems, increased tropical cyclone activity, increased hurricane strength,
ocean acidification.
Simply put, we NEED the seas that we are currently almost half way to killing [half
of coral reefs already dead or severely
damaged and dying, phytoplankton unable to make their defensive carbonate «shells» because
of CO2
acidification of the
oceans... these are the base feed
of most life in the
oceans, fisheries are failing because their food is being killed by us, and we are
of course next in line to starve... it makes little sense since we know all this...]
If the proposed Crystal Brook Energy Park is built it will result in a reduction
of around six hundred thousand tonnes
of greenhouse carbon dioxide going into the atmosphere each year, slowing climate change and reducing the
damaging acidification of our
oceans.
Beyond health, additional impacts
of emissions such as
ocean acidification, biodiversity loss, ecosystem impacts
of nitrogen deposition, and changes in visibility are omitted, suggesting that these
damages are conservative and leaving ample opportunities to further improve the comprehensiveness
of social cost metrics.
It should be noted that these figures do not include
damage due to the large portion
of climate change and
ocean acidification that is due to burning coal.
