rainfall a year after a record drought started, but not enough to eliminate worries about an energy crisis, water shortages or another season of
damaged export crops, meteorologists said.
The final totals on
rainfall and
damage wrought
by this unprecedented storm are yet to be determined, but more than 50 inches of rain fell in parts of southeast Texas.
In June 2008, a record flood event exceeded the once - in -500-year flood level
by more than 5 feet, causing $ 5 to $ 6 billion in
damages from flooding, or more than $ 40,000 per resident of the city of Cedar Rapids.85 The flood inundated much of the downtown,
