In many cats with diabetes, a protein called amyloid collects in and
damages the islet cells.
The immune system attacks and
damages the islet cells that make insulin in the pancreas.
Also, the almost infinitely high omega 6 / omega 3 ratio seen in the first study would cause extreme inflammation that is known to
damage islet cells and prevent proper insulin and leptin function while also impairing the metabolism of fatty acids and membrane function.
