But I've always craved

dark, different
jewel tones, since I grew up in a house in SoCal where all the walls were white.
The finish on the kitchen's upper cabinets complements the wood walls throughout the rest of the house, but since the kitchen is also the home's
darkest room, the red makes it feel connected to the adjacent living area (which features
jewel -
tone colors), but detatched at the same time.
On my computer the painted cabinets look like a
dark charcoal (which doesn't do anything for me), but you said «teal» and I love that
color & that
jewel tone does go much better with the whole Moroccan feel... plus, yay on the butcher block counters which again warms it up & balances out the b / w (thank goodness they didn't put in freaky granite that would've been a major needle record screech).
