Kitchen and Breakfast Nook got Perfect Greige (a little darker)

The previous owners of our house renovated the kitchen before and they did a nice job but the cabinets are dark wood... they are actually pretty nice, they have a glaze and everything, but all I want to do is paint them and change the little tiled backsplash to a handmade subway tile... Oh well:) Watching your house progress is so fun!

When we bought, we had very few options besides light or dark cabinets (I chose dark), but I'm thinking that painting my kitchen island and maybe adding a little architectural detailing to it would help to spice things up.

This muddy gray might be a little dark for walls but would look amazing on an island or bottom cabinets in the kitchen or on painted pieces of furniture.

The current trends in kitchens are for the very dark shades such as Farrow & Ball's Railings and Stiffkey Blue, and Little Greene's Deep Space Blue.

I struggled a little when I painted a wall in our kitchen... it was so dark and imposing at first.

I have a cream kitchen (not white), with double stacked cabinets to the ceiling, pale yellow walls and Juperana Gold counters and faux travertine (heated) floors... I live in a very GRAY city (literally some of the least days of sunshine in the country)-- so for my mental health, I prefer a war, bright palette in my personal (historic, dark tudor) home... where there is tons of medium dark wainscoating throughout all the non-kitchen spaces, with only a little painted woodwork.

We decided to leave he island and some of the cabinetry dark to give this kitchen a little bit more of a custom look and she had a barn door built for one of the entry ways into the kitchen.

My kitchen is a little dark, and I know both would help.
