Date Caramel Apple Sauce is delicious
on all your fall favorites!
They are quick to whip up, and the
date caramel recipe makes extra so you can use it after to sweeten anything, or even just spread
on toast.
Make the
caramel: Add
dates, almond butter, maple syrup, vanilla, salt and coconut oil to a food processor and blend until smooth, this may take a minute or two depending
on the power of your machine.
And if you have a few
dates on hand (and a machine to blend them up with) you can make a
caramel - y sauce to dip them into, though this is entirely optional.
Next, you'll make a
date caramel that's almost too luscious to describe, to layer
on top of the crumbly sweet base.
Plus, if you can get your hands
on caramel - like Barhi
dates, which won't be in season for long, they will make these confections all the more special.
On the other hand, if the sauce seems thin (it should have body, though it won't be as dense or sticky as sugar - based
caramel sauce), add a couple more soaked
dates.
Or
on the sweet side: vegan snickerdoodles;
date caramel mocha bars; or vegan white chocolate truffles.
I hate wasting food and ingredients, but fortunately, I was able to rescue some
caramel baking morsels that were
on the verge of their expiration
date.
In the meantime, make the

dates, peanut butter, 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and 1/4 cup sweetener into the food processor and process
