I have made these twice, once using the Maple Syrup and the second time using

I wonder about rehydrating a couple dates and making
a date paste to use instead — may be sweet enough.

I haven't tested this recipe using
date paste yet, but I would guess you could replace the dates with 1 cup of
date paste with similar results.
I tested this method using my Paleo Pumpkin Spice Muffins, and the results were super-dry when replacing the maple syrup with a 1:1 ratio of
date paste, but if you double the amount of
date paste, the texture and sweetness are much better.
So, if a recipe calls for 1/2 cup of maple syrup, I'd recommend using 1 cup of
date paste.
Add
the date paste, carob powder, ground flax, HALF of the cherries (1/8 Cup), greens, salt and dried coconut to a food processor and process for a couple of minutes or until well mixed and the greens have been well broken down.
I made

I've made chocolate

I don't have that much experience sweetening things with dates or dried fruits, but I suppose
a date paste (or Fruit Paste) can add sweetness if you omit the stevia.

date paste from Russell James» recipe, just 1 c dates and 1 1/2 c water.
