You can use other liquid
sweeteners (
date syrup, coconut nectar, Bee Free Honee, agave nectar, brown rice syrup, etc.) but I can't guarantee quite
as crispy a result because I haven't tested them all yet.
To use
dates as a primary
sweetener in baked goods you will need a food processor.
Maple syrup or granulated
sweeteners will not work
as a direct sub since the
dates not only sweeten but bind and add tons of moisture to the donuts too.
If you are making baked goods I would replace the liquid
sweetener with exactly the same amount of
date syrup
as it may alter the consistency if you change the quantity of wet ingredients.
