The
exhibition will also have work by Alice White the artist in residence at the London Zoo (seriously this is probably the coolest residency in London she gets to
see baby animals every
day).
In the next few
days I'll be posting lists comprised of artists, artworks, and
exhibitions appearing at this year's installment of Art Basel Miami that I am eager to
see.
The weekend in January that
saw two big art fairs and a spate of new
exhibitions across the Bay Area also left us with something more permanent: Three new gallery spaces opened in San Francisco over three
days, Jan. 12 - 14.
In recent
days I have posted on Facebook galleries of photos from recent
exhibitions I've just
seen, with a brief text which I typically write quickly, just enough to give readers a quick sense of the work.
The one on the left, Alternative Titles for
Exhibitions I've
Seen, has been selected as today's Painting of the
Day.
It will be wonderful to
see the
day when the inclusion of women in art
exhibitions, particularly those focused on the mid-20th century, attracts no special notice.
At no point could one
see all three in a single
day, since the Frick
exhibition opened October 29, but this is art, right?
There are only a few more
days to
see Atlanta based artist Brian Dettmer's
exhibition entitled «Altered Books» at Kinz + Tillou Fine Art in New York.
On May 23, just nine
days after the Ryan Lee opening, Ross will unveil the first and largest phase of his ambitious summer show at MASS MoCA, «Clifford Ross: Landscape
Seen & Imagined,» an immersive multi-media
exhibition that takes place across two buildings, six galleries, two courtyards and two beer gardens.
So, when I entered the Guggenheim to
see the
exhibition on a gray March
day, I choose to surrender myself to the work — relinquishing any preconceptions so as not to color my first in - person experience.
While most museum collections are kept in storage when not on display for specific
exhibitions, for this project, visitors are invited to select which works they would like to
see, and those works will be on display in the museum space ten
days after the request is made.
However, the
exhibition also looks at the reaction to music
seen by some as «primitive» or even «savage», including the saga of The Breakdown, by the Scottish artist John Bulloch Souter, taken down after five
days at the Academy's summer
exhibition.
From whalebone corsets to the «waist trainers» and Spanx we
see in our shops today, this
exhibition traces the history of underwear from the 18th century to the present
day.
The experience of being on press 10 - 12 hours a
day for a week,
seeing images of every
exhibition for the past 10 years roll out before my eyes, and to
see it in China, has been wonderfully and exhaustingly other - worldly.

exhibition consists of three works (on love and other landscapes, 2011), (blindness of love, 2013) and (the
day we
saw nothing in front of us, 2015).»

see some of Haim Steinbach's shelf works upstairs in his

day his London show closes is Haim Steinbach's first solo
exhibition in Israel in Jaffa at Magasin III Museum & Foundation for Contemporary Art's new satellite space.
People are waiting to
see what Tate Britain will do with its collection of Turner paintings to warrant the entrance fee to «Late Turner» (opening 10 September), and also to
see which of Britain's cherished Old Masters will come out on top when the V&A opens its Constable
exhibition 10
days later (20 September).
The large installation was exhibited as a solo
exhibition at Kunsthalle Zurich in 1995 alongside the publication of her first book, «Visit to a Small Planet», a script which spanned the years 1978 (when she
saw the original film aged 10) to the present
day.

Alex Prager's three films Face in the Crowd, La Petite Mort, and Despair are to be screened during SOLUNA's Opening Performance on 6 May, with their scores performed live by an orchestra; the following
day sees the opening of Prager's solo
exhibition of three video installations and a new body of photographs (in their USA debut) at the Goss - Michael Foundation.
The
exhibition takes at least four or five
days to
see, and that's before you've taken in any of its public programme of lectures, seminars, screenings, performances, hypnotisms, etc., or begun reading its 100 commissioned essays — by luminaries including Franco «Bifo» Berardi, Judith Butler, Susan Buck - Morss, Boris Groys, Donna Haraway, Suely Rolnik and Michael Taussig — gathered in the hernia - inducing, tree - gorging catalogue The Book of Books.
In the
exhibition we
see the subversive creativity and the physical, ironic language used in Hail reflected in the work of contemporaries of Clark and Atlas's
day, as well as among modern -
day artists active in visual art and dance, music and pop culture, with their rebellious expressions.
I was familiar with Bhavsar's paintings in New York during my graduate student
days at New York University, but to
see a major
exhibition in Wichita by this Indian painter whose work I had admired at Max Hutchinson Gallery in SoHo was an undeniable thrill.
More than 140 contemporary visual works depicting hope and resilience from a devastating disease can be
seen in «Art AIDS America Chicago,» an
exhibition that opened at the Alphawood Gallery on World AIDS
Day and runs through April 2, 2017.
The Museum's forthcoming New Media
exhibition presents a multi-media installation by Connecticut - based artist William DeLottie, entitled
Day Dreaming
