We only get one major Christian
holiday off and I don't recall any Jewish, Hindu, Buddist or any other religious

As a working parent I
do nt want to waste my vacation
days just because you want to celebrate your

As a country it would be impossible to get every single
holiday on the calendar, especially when some of them
do not correspond to the 365
day solar calendar, and I have no problem with having to deal with the de facto Christian calendar which has become the de facto secular calendar.
Add to that the fact that Christmas has become less of a religious
day, and more of a commercial (secular)
day, and we definitely don't take off from work or school for any Christian religious
holidays anymore.
BUT I
do believe in separation of «church» and state (another founding principal of our country)... so NO religious
holiday should result in a
day off from school not even CHRISTMAS or PASSOVER etc. if you celebrate the
holiday don't send your kid to school and they can catch up later.
BTW, go ahead and have your 2
day Muslim
holiday, I don't see anything wrong with it.

days arent included, school is for learning skills that will help in your building a good life for yourself not for teaching religion leave that for in the home.
I say allow the
holidays, which I
do not mind including but I am sure the teachers union will have a fit that they have to work two more
days out of the year.

day off to warrant a school closing, so be it — but no one is penalized for observing his / her
