My typical slow weight weekly workout
includes lifting three or four
days (although sometime it's five or six); each lift is about 80 percent
of the maximum weight I can lift one time for that
exercise; three to four sets each
day (sometimes more); up to five or six repetitions per set; resting between sets is three minutes to an hour or two (or more).
You might think

The
exercise component
of this diet
includes strength training 3 times a week with focus on abdominal
exercises, and interval training and cardio training on non-strength training
days.
Warning: You want to AVOID the typical mistake that most
exercise enthusiasts make, and that's doing 1 - 2 hours or more
of slow cardio
exercise per
day (and for the running or biking enthusiasts, this
includes jogging or distance biking for more than 30 - 60 minutes a
day)... these types
of excessively long cardio routines increase the rate
of aging in your body, and detrimentally affect your hormones, making fat loss harder.
Be sure the diet is varied and
includes beans, nuts, seeds and plenty
of hydration, especially on
days when you are
exercising more vigorously.
There are other outstanding benefits
of regular aerobic
exercise including higher bone density, an increase in good cholesterol, mood improvement, as well as feeling more energized throughout the
day.
However, many routines that I see typically
include a major compound lift at the beginning
of each
day, and then are followed by 4 or 5 isolation
exercises.
Some DVDs are purely Pilates mat
exercises but these
days, many also
include workouts with the smaller pieces
of Pilates equipment like the Pilates ring,
exercise balls, and fitness bands.
You will notice that in at least 4
of my training
days I
include compound
exercises and I usually only train two body parts in each session.
Other lifestyle habits that appear to help prevent cancer
include an hour
of exercise every
day, 7 - hours sleep every night, and reduced exposure to tanning beds, cell - phone radiation, CT scans, and dental x-rays.
We recommend that our patients try to do at least 40 minutes
of exercise most
days of the week and
include a mixture
of aerobic and strength - training
exercises.
