I haven't experienced this in a game since
the days of playing Halo 2 religiously on the original Xbox, and it was great to play with people who had their microphones plugged in but weren't using them to insult their teammates.
Upon giving it a go, the first thing I thought about was my early
days of playing Halo multiplayer.

While the Standard edition will,
of course, net you a copy
of Halo Wars 2 to
play on both PC and Xbox One through a single - use code, the Ultimate Edition grants four -
day early access (Feb 17 rather than Feb 21), a season pass and a copy
of Halo Wars Definitive Edition - a upgraded port
of the original
Halo Wars with all past DLC, extra achievements and improved visuals capable
of running on both PC and Xbox One.
With a number
of titles moving out
of 2014, 2015 could now potentially
play host to Batman: Arkham Knight, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, The Legend
of Zelda: Wii U,
Halo 5: Guardians, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (possibly the same
day as Arkham Knight!!!)
In the five
days since the new version
of the mod was released on April 20, the ElDewrito team says there has been a lot
of activity, claiming that when their blog post was published last night
Halo Online had over 8,000 people
playing simultaneously.
It was a grand
day for Xbox players worldwide, now that they're able to
play another game instead
of Call
of Duty or
Halo all the time.
This all led to the early
days of the original Xbox, perhaps about a year after
Halo came out and I was
playing those kinds
of games and that's about when the music industry was starting to turn and change a lot.
Despite a recent massive media push and the biggest
day one sales
of a game ever, recent analysis by number - crunching social gaming service Raptr indicates that Call
of Duty: Black Ops is only holding its own with old stalwarts Modern Warfare 2 and
Halo: Reach in terms
of online
play - time.
While we once may have
played Quake or
Halo or Age
of Empires for the fun
of it in addition to the competition, there are so many multiplayer titles we
play these
days for the competition aspects first, the fun sometimes be damned.
I
play a lot
of games, I am usually a
day one purchaser
of Halo titles and sign up for betas.
This week was the first time I've been able to
play an online multiplayer game, and I've owned
Halo: The Master Chief Collection since the
day of release.
Early in 2010 I was living the normal teenage boy life:
play Xbox every
day, from the minute I got home from school until 9PM that night; weekends consisted
of me and my friends staying up until 7 or 8 AM
playing Call
of Duty: World at War, Gears
of War 2, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and
Halo 3.
Although matchmaking was down, it forced my friends and I to
play some private matches and relive the old glory
days of Halo 2.
While I'm not the biggest fan
of MMOs, the notion
of some sort
of multi-platform, varied way to
play space western made by the dudes who made
Halo might sell me on picking up that Xbox 720 on release
day.
Within four
days of its release, fans spend the equivalent
of over 2,300 man - years
playing Halo: Reach.
At the end
of the
day though gravity lifts are nothing new to the
Halo franchise, plus the basic lay out as well as the walls and areas are all so familiar to the when
playing it.
The 360 has a large list
of great games available like
Halo: 3 and ODST, Gears
of War, Left 4 Dead, Forsa motor Sports 1 & 2, AC6, Fable & Geometry Wars =] and now you can
play Devil may cry and soon Final fantasy 13 (who knows maybe Kingdom hearts some
day) Point 3.
OK, the game isn't in any way remotely close to
Halo 2, but when I was
playing the game with a group
of people in the multiplayer mode, it brought me back to the
days when I first started
playing Halo 2 and the pure joy
of fragging out with a bunch
of people.
