This time
of year is bittersweet in many ways: many
of you already have children who have gone back to school (ours
start after Labor
Day), this is when the
days start getting shorter, and the abundance
of fresh fruit & vegetables that
summer provides
starts to wane.
It's also perfect for celebrating Father's
Day, the
start of summer, or any time you feel like you're in the mood for some delicious seafood.
All kidding aside, we do love
summer break, it's just not much
of a break if you're the mom; I guess our break
starts the first
day of school.
With Memorial
Day weekend and the unofficial
start of summer, it felt like the right time for a red, white and blue dessert.
I know we just got through Labor
Day and that technically marks the final
days of summer, but if you're in Southern California it feels like
summer is just getting
started with this heatwave
of never - ending proportions.
I turn on my stove and oven each
day at 7AM:) since I cook my lunch very early, whilst still sleeping basically, to avoid the rest
of the people in the house, and so that I can finish all the housework and
start my work after 9AM:) And it is easier cooking early in the morning during
