Dead Ringers exploits that discomfort brilliantly.
Jeremy Irons in «Reversal
of Fortune» seemed to me to be the Academy atoning for a «
Dead Ringers» snub, for which he won the New York Film Critics Circle award for Best Actor.
Though Scream Factory presents
Dead Ringers with a clean soundtrack (the Criterion master was plagued by audio distortion), the stereo channels are reversed on the 2.0 DTS - HD MA tracks for both incarnations
of the film.
In my opinion, this is Cronenberg's best since 1988's
Dead Ringers (if you have a DVD player, the Criterion version
of this with a commentary with the director should be on your to buy list).
New to Blu - ray this week are both Rabid and
Dead Ringers, a pair
of David Cronenberg movies that are stacked with some great extras worth digging into.
