deciduous canine tooth can be seen behind the larger, rounder adult canine tooth.

This is due to the fact that the adult canines erupt lingual (or inside)
the deciduous canines.
If there are retained
deciduous canines or the patient is base narrow with its deciduous dentition, interceptive orthodontics should be performed as soon as possible to hopefully avoid the problem.

We like to wait the little extra time on small - breed dogs because they have a tendency to retain their «baby» (
deciduous) teeth - thus resulting in double rows of teeth - and the «fangs» (
canine teeth, «eye teeth») don't normally drop out until 5 months of age.
