of these experts to discuss common subjects, to pool their resources to provide specialized service functions and professional expertise, and to be represented
at a European
level when
decisions are made regarding laboratory animal use and welfare.
CFHS members understand the importance
of advancing animal welfare
at the national
level and that CFHS membership brings direct benefit to your organization, including the cohesion offered by a strong national voice for humane
societies and SPCAs to advance Canada's animal welfare agenda, increasing visibility with national
decision - makers through our presence on influential national committees and coalitions — not to mention exclusive funding opportunities and original, evidence - based research and resources and opportunities to connect with animal welfare organizations across the country.
The vast majority are
at the mercy
of governmental and societal
decisions as to how they live, where they live, and their
levels of exposure to many risks and disasters, both natural and
of society's own creation.
This is a struggle that can be won, the window is there, but it will require sustained effort by individuals combined with nearly flawless
decision making by all organizations
at every
level of society.
Canadian
society, in general, may take issue with particular
decisions but as a whole appears to respect the judicial system (although most would probably like it to be more transparent, particularly the process for choosing new judges
at almost every
level of court).
