When I was thinking how I would style this
year's halloween tablescape inspiration, I had an idea in mind however, as I was gathering
decor pieces, I found my concept changed to this... I call it «Dark Garden».
I didn't end up going too overboard this
year, I left several
pieces of
decor in the storage boxes for the first time ever - but I love how it turned out.
Each
year I pull out items I've had stashed away in my closet (I call it my JoJo closet... as in Fixer Upper style) over half the
year but I also typically add a few
pieces to the mix to really get my
decor game going.
I have some
decor pieces that my grandchildren gave me
years ago that I couldn't use in my decorating now because of the colors of the
pieces, but I could use this painting technique on them & be able to use them again.
I love blaring holiday tunes and unboxing old holiday
decor, and of course, adding new
pieces each
year.

While I have some
pieces of artwork and wall
decor that stays put for more than a season, most of my wall
decor migrates to different walls all
year long.
If there's one
piece of seasonal
decor that I love to display in my house
year - round, it's a wreath.
Brass coffee tables are one of the most on trend
pieces out there today but what I love most is that the brass coffee table is a classic that will work with any home
decor style for
years and
years to come.
I like to do this so I can reuse the same
pieces each
year, but switch up other aspects of my
decor to get an entirely different look!
Not only is this frame perfect in our family room as holiday
decor, but it's also a versatile
piece that can be re-purposed in so many ways throughout the
year.
Cozy
pieces, easy dresses, comfortable shoes and statement earrings and gold
decor are high on my list this
year.
Vintage
pieces and red and black accents are the inspiration for our Christmas
decor this
year.
This
year my Halloween
decor has been all about vignettes, setting up small
decor scenes on top of my furniture
pieces.

decor pieces are here (or somewhere else in our home)

The benefit for staying neutral in my
decor year round is
pieces are easily switched out and all still blend together.
I don't want my major
decor pieces to be «trendy» because then they'll be passe in a few
years, but rather I am trying for timeless classic
pieces and incorporating trendy touches through the accessories.

I like
decor pieces that have longevity like that, similar to the Book Page Wreath I created last
year.
I have taken traditional wreath ideas from
years past and put my original ideas and touches on them and the rusult is always current, original and a standout
piece of home
decor.
They actually have a lot of great furniture and home
decor pieces, including these ghost chairs, a style I've been eyeing for
years.
