"Decorator crabs" refers to a type of crab that camouflages itself by attaching things like algae, shells, or debris to its body. This helps the crab blend in with its surroundings and hide from predators.

Decorator Crab: Stenocionopus turcata Primarily seen in the muddy areas of the lagoon, for example as seen behind the fisheries co-op, the Giant Decorator Crab is large, up to 6» and has long spiderlike legs.
There was great macro life, making night dives a real highlight: toadfish, octopus, reef squid,
decorator crabs, conches and lobsters.
Iridescent azure vase sponges and blue bell tunicates add to the color of this site and
decorator crabs and neck crabs are can be seen clinging to the sea fans.
The night dive, done in Wagmab, was an opportunity to spot creatures like the Crocodile Flathead,
Decorator Crab, a couple of scorpionfishes, Blue - spotted Stingray and a sleeping Hawksbill Turtle!
This time the dive guides highlighted, in between others, a lot of critters distributed in different species of nudibranchs and crustaceans, like
the Decorator Crab.
The night dive served as an excellent possibility to spot critters creatures, to name a few: Pygmy Cuttlefish, Marbled Shrimp and

Great underwater scenery, and a great place for macro photography — Living around the soft corals you can find critters including pygmy seahorses,
decorator crabs, and many small commensal species living with crinoids.
Night dive we did Friwinbonda again, many pygmy sea horses one pregnant, nudibranchs, flat worms,
decorator crabs and a lot more.
Bobtail Squid, Crinoid Shrimp, octopus, crabs, like
the Decorator Crab, translucent shrimps and others were spotted.

We spotted sea slugs, couple of bobtail squids, cattle fish and

Thank to the eyes of the dive guides, critters were the main highlight, to name a few: juvenile Reef Octopus,
Decorator Crab, Toadfish and Tasseled Scorpionfish.

As it is usually the case in Raja Ampat, night dives was dedicated mostly for macro life: nudibranchs,
Decorator Crabs, Marbled Shrimps and others were some of the findings.

Decorator Crab, juvenile Broadclub Cuttlefish, Reef Octopus and an immense Box Crab.
We spotted pigmy squid, sea slugs, couple of bobtail squids and
decorator crabs.
We spotted couple of lobsters, scorpion fish, walking shark and
decorator crabs.
This time, Pygmy Cuttlefish,
Decorator Crab, a swimming moray and Crocodile Flathead were some of the highlights.
We found many amazing creatures: bobtail cuttle fish, tiny yellow frogfish, hornet pipe fish, yellow black spotted moray eel,
decorator crab, spider crab and much more crabs and shrimps.
During this dive we spotted: walking sharks,
decorator crabs, king prawn, sea slugs and nudibranch.
Besides that, a good number of moray eels,
decorator crabs, nudibranchs and even a big patroling Yellowtail Barracuda were seen!

Once each dive begins, one of you will fix their face to the wall, scouring the colourful ledges and overhangs of corals and sponges for such creatures as pontohi pygmy seahorses, elegant squat lobsters, whip coral shrimps, slipper lobsters,
decorator crabs, fantail pipefish and yellow leaffish.
But really, it's possible that none are as charming as the talents of
the decorator crab.
Covered in little hooks for which to attach camouflaging doodads,
these decorator crabs are the prima donnas of the tide pools.
