With average
electricity demand rising annually at 1.5 % -2 % and peak
demand rising at around double that rate in some sections of the country (and remember that majority of the generating and T&D capacity is
dedicated to meeting peak
demand for a few hours each year)... we need to approach the
electricity issue not only by considering the generating side of the equation but careful consideration of the rest of the pieces as well.
