In
the default normal driving mode, a little enthusiasm is required with the throttle in order to execute an uphill pass, although sport mode is much peppier.
Not exact matches
Normal is the
default setting, designed for most everyday
driving, and there's an Eco
mode (only on the manual versions) to help drivers use less fuel.
Then later you go back to
default normal mode and the throttle feels really flat, so you end up
driving it the whole time in your personal configuration and wondering why the car wasn't just sold like that and the bloody Sport
mode blanked off.
For added convenience, the Terrain Management System automatically
defaults to
normal mode whenever the Explorer is started to ensure it's ready for
normal driving conditions.
That includes five different possible
drive modes, ranging from Eco,
Normal (the
default mode), Sport, N and N Custom, via a switch located on the steering wheel.
«Changing the
drive mode from
Normal [
default] to Economy or Sport didn't change the dynamic that much, either.
While Eco deadens throttle response and is quick to upshift, and
Normal feels good for everyday
driving, Sport was my
default mode of choice.
The RS will feature sport, track and drift
modes, in addition to the
normal /
default driving mode.
Those four
drive modes: advanced efficiency, which ensures low - rpm gear shifts, a slower throttle and use of the powertrain's available cylinder deactivation;
normal, the
default setting upon start - up; dynamic, which loosens up stability control and speeds up throttle; and race — yes, race — which turns stability control off and holds on to the lowest gear possible.
Mode 1 is the
default setting for
normal driving and emphasizes vehicle stability Mode 2 is engaged when electronic stability control is turned off in the Sport or Track
modes.
Integral to Civic Si's
driving mode system, ADS lets the driver select the damping characteristics of the suspension to suit their pleasure — smooth and easy city
driving in
NORMAL mode (the
default setting whenever the Civic Si is started) or taut and direct handling response in SPORT
mode.
In the
default,
normal drive mode, the accelerator has a big soft spot before much of anything happens.
While
Normal mode might be the
default drive setting, I recommend going Econ to maximize range whenever you can.
