Unfortunately, Google's ban on customizations means OEMs are left with very few options when it comes to differentiating their devices from others on the market.One way to create unique experiences is with
default watch faces.
These are strictly
default watch faces, and while many of them look nice it won't take most people long to wander into the Play Store for something new.
One of the biggest beefs I've had with Android Wear smartwatches is the lack of watch face options, though the Moto 360 does boast some customizations to
default watch faces.
The default watch face offers your step count for the day, along with easy access to your heart rate and calories burned.
It will take you through a brief tutorial, after which you'll land on
the default watch face, ready to start using it.
It is about as traditional looking as it can get and with
the default watch face looks pretty much like any other watch.
You can expect
a default watch face that reveals the current time and weather.
When you navigate through the menus, you can set an alarm, change
the default watch face, adjust the date / time or control the look of the notifications.
The default watch face for the Moto 360 Sport is called, appropriately enough, «Sport.»
This means that rather than using
a default watch face that comes from Google, LG or an app, you'll be able to open a template and add the elements to the face that you want to see.

watches, it has a decidedly male aesthetic, with a stainless steel bezel etched with hour markings, and a
default face that features digital chronographs for the day, steps and battery level.

watch faces available but the best one is the
default one that blends well with the overall
watch / strap design.

watches we've tested
default to an always - on mode with a black background and white text for the
watch face.
The Gear's collection of
watch faces is also in dire need of some curation, because even after scrolling through the top 500 free options, I struggled to find more than one or two aside from Samsung's

Some app notifications don't play nice with the Gear S3, and while Samsung's store has many great
watch faces (plus the solid
default set) it doesn't have the same catalogue or potential of the Google Play Store.
If you want, you can set the
watch face to turn off entirely when it's not «raised», but that's not how it ships by
default — and that's a good thing.

Watch faces can't be personalized — I hope that's something Fitbit will look into in the future, or that it will at least expand its collection of
default faces.
The first screen you'll always be greeted with when waking the device up is the
watch face, which by
default displays the time, stairs climbed, steps taken and calories burned throughout the day.

face is square rather than circular and the
default band is rubber, giving it the look of a sports
watch more than something you'd wear all day every day.
