Fighting them is as simple as rolling as many melee or ranged dice as you want, adding any bonuses from your weapons and then checking to see if the total is higher than
the defense value listed on the enemy's card.

list is pretty useless in this discussion because so much of Ender's
value comes from
defense, which isn't accounted for in those similarities.
Whatever your target you simply need to calculate the total attack and
defense values of your army as clearly
listed on the cards, and then compare them against the enemy's same
values, with attack points being pitted against
defense and vice versa.
For each army in the box you've got four different troops with matching cards that
list their attack and
defense values as well as any special abilities.
