A definition for Tiny House allows people in the community to speak with banks and other lending institutions and show them that the home they're considering is actually a legally defined entity and one that comes with it's own code language and guidelines.
Nearly all news stories addressing what are tiny houses say something like, «A common
definition for a tiny house doesn't exist...» Well we have good news; if you've been wondering just what a tiny house is, a definition has FINALLY been established!

I will be the first to say that this build won't appeal to everyone, and there will most certainly be backlash in the form of «this isn't what
tiny is supposed to be», but let me also be the first to point out that
tiny is relative to one's needs, and this
house is designed
for a family of five, so if having this extra space and nicer components is the key to making this lifestyle sustainable
for this family, then it very much fits the
definition of a
tiny house.
There is also the ANSI 119.5 5 - 10.4.2.2 spiral staircase
definition of 26 ″ diameter with 12 ″ treads that could be referenced
for tiny houses with spiral stairs the next go round (2021).
We're changing the
definition of a
tiny house to read «no more than 600sf including lofts»
for the State of Oregon.
