What kind of
dehydrator do you have?
You can cover the jars with just about anything; the dehydrator doesn't get that hot.
Pure raw foodists sprout their grains and beans, and dehydrate anything that is normally baked, believing that the low temperature of a dehydrator doesn't kill the living nutrients in foods.
Granola prepared in a food dehydrator doesn't cook but rather dries out over time.
My dehydrator doesn't have adjustable temperature settings, unfortunately.

I'm always excited when I can make one of your lovely dishes — I don't have a
dehydrator, so I can't make the ones that use it.
In the directions for the crust, when you say «dehydrate»
do you mean put into the
dehydrator or just expose to air?

do nt like the idea of a

dehydrator, simply store in a warm, dark, dry place for 8 - 10 hours.
If you're looking for a more pure approach, you can
do as some other readers have suggested... purchase raw cashews (find them in the bulk foods section of your local grocery store / whole foods), soak the cashews for 4 - 6 hours in water, then place them in either a counter-top
dehydrator or your oven @ 200 - 250 F until they're dry.

If you don't have a
dehydrator, you can place the nuts in an oven warmed to 118F and turn occasionally until thoroughly dry and crisp.
You can easily find recipes for raw vegan onion bread (which is easier with a
dehydrator, but can be
done in the oven).
Since I don't own a
dehydrator, I used my oven for the same purpose.

done this a few times now, and realized that a high
dehydrator temp is no good, it's got to be low, which of course means it will take a LOT longer to dry them out.

Another way to store it is to dehydrate it either in your oven on the lowest with the door ajar or if you're lucky enough to have a proper
dehydrator, obviously you'd know how to
do that

The good news, like most health freaks, I
do not own a
dehydrator (not that I don't want one) SO these crackers won't take 800 hours, they bake up just perfect in under 15 minutes, presto.
Some people melt the coconut oil in a
dehydrator or you could melt it over a double boiler and use a thermometer to make sure it doesn't get too hot.
If you have more willpower than I
do, you can store her in a mason jar in the fridge and just warm in a
dehydrator before serving.
