The researchers noted a 2012 report which concluded that negative attitudes about Alzheimer's disease and
dementia can result in shame, guilt, hopelessness, and social exclusion among stigmatized individuals, leading to
delay in
diagnosis, inability to cope, and decreased quality
of life.
