CONCLUSIONS: This is the first randomized, controlled trial to
demonstrate the
efficacy of a comprehensive developmental behavioral
intervention for toddlers with ASD for improving cognitive and adaptive behavior and reducing severity
of ASD diagnosis.
Importantly, the findings
of the present study
demonstrate that while brief tele - based psychosocial
interventions are effective at reducing psychological distress in cancer patients, patient characteristics play an important role in influencing the
efficacy of the
intervention.
This finding
demonstrated the unique contribution that self -
efficacy plays in predicting treatment outcome and is concordant with previous findings that suggest that self -
efficacy is a strong predictor
of future behavior and that high levels
of perceived self -
efficacy may contribute to response to depression treatment, therefore justifying self -
efficacy as a specific target for treatment
intervention.
All
of the
interventions in this study
demonstrated some degree
of treatment
efficacy.
The
intervention approach, Competent Adulthood Transition with Cognitive Behavioral Humanistic and Interpersonal Training (CATCH - IT), is based on face - to - face
