But President Obama made paid leave a centerpiece of his State of the Union last year, and over the past year he has
deployed labor secretary Tom Perez and senior White House advisor Valerie Jarrett to states across the country to meet with officials to discuss ways to advance city and state legislation to create paid leave programs.
