This 18 - month, mixed - methods, exploratory study, conducted in partnership with the Consortium for Policy Research in Education, will have three phases: 1)
Qualitative inquiry across K - 8 schools in Philadelphia; 2) Latent class analysis to identify «profiles» of school disciplinary
approaches, coupled with event history analysis to examine student outcomes in context; 3) Case studies to examine contextual themes in
depth.
The mixed - methods
approach will help to evaluate comprehensively and in -
depth the feasibility and acceptability of the cognitive - behavioural therapy for renal fatigue (BReF) intervention; the
qualitative data will complement the quantitative findings and help to identify areas in need of improvement.
Through course readings, discussion, and practical application, candidates explore: (1) different
approaches in
qualitative research and epistemologies and common theoretical perspectives that undergird
qualitative inquiry, and (2) various methods and techniques for gathering, interpreting, and making meaning of in -
depth and rich information about things as they occur in their natural settings.
