Certainly that is ONE way to interpret the current data, and I happen to think it is very likely that your statement is correct (I am a «believer» in my own mind of this statement), but it is not an automatic a ssumption and there are several scientific and philosophical papers that describe viable mechanisms that would overturn that a ssumption.
