The Noguchi Museum was founded in 1985 by Isamu Noguchi (1904 — 1988), one of the leading sculptors and designers of the twentieth century, The museum was the first museum in America to be established, designed, and installed by a living artist to show their own work, according to The Noguchi Museum.

Bronstein extends the performance metaphor by introducing live dancers (who will perform continuously from 11 am to 5 pm daily), twirling and pirouetting their way around geometric patterns on the floor, which reference both baroque garden design and the American conceptual artist Bruce Nauman.

The award is designed to have meaningful impact on the life and career of one artist per year, by both recognizing past success and by fostering their ability to continue to produce exceptional and exemplary work in the medium of painting.

The exhibition, designed by Dyvik Kahlen Architects, is sorted into separated sections, where from 20 to 3,000 objects belonging to each personal collection are presented in separate spaces, reflecting each artist's aesthetic approach, own preferences and live / work environment.

This oversized catalogue — designed in close collaboration with the artist — is anchored by sixteen stunning plates and numerous 1:1 details that bring to life, and gives viewers intimate access to, these compelling compositions.
