So this week,
in order to fix this grave mistake, I challenged myself to make a spring
dessert with chocolate just to prove that it can indeed
be done.
It
's rare that I
order dessert, but it
's rare that I
am dining
in New York.
I find that most baked
desserts need margarine or butter
in order to come out good (that
's why I
'm not much of a baker).
Since they aren't cheap, I do save them for special
desserts and times when mini-chips
are in order; like my husband's favorite Chewy Granola Bars and Fudge Brownie Cookies for his birthday.

Although I think you can never go wrong with a decadent chocolate
dessert I have
been branching out a bit
in order to satisfy the non-chocoholics
in the family.
Oh, and don't worry about getting back
in line to
order dessert: You can pay for everything at once and pick it up when you
're ready.
Crème brûlée
is one of my favorite
desserts to
order in a restaurant.
If you go,
be sure to stop into the Wayside Inn for a drink
in The Tap Room (the old tavern) and
order the Baked Indian Pudding; it
's one of my favorite
desserts of all - time.
However, there
are overall calorie limits on meals so schools may
be cutting back on
desserts in order to stay within these limits.
And that
's just it — when kids feel that they have to eat one food
in order to
be rewarded with another food, they automatically associate the first food with «yucky, gross, or less desirable» and the
dessert food as delicious and even more desirable than before, because your child needs to work for it now.
So I showed her how much sugar they contain,
in order to convey that they
are really more of a
dessert than a snack, and she decided she'd like to take one as a snack anyway and one as a
dessert on another day (they come
in packs of 2).
No matter what kind of dish or good
desserts you
're craving, if you have a collection of spices and other items to flavor your food with, there
's a good chance you'll
be able to take care of any craving
in a healthy, unprocessed meal (no need to
order in!)
My strategy
is no added sugar 5 days a week (just like this challenge) and then I enjoy some on the weekend
in minimal amounts — for example going out for breakfast or dinner and
being able to
order pancakes, or
being fine with sharing a
dessert with a friend.
I see so many people going on crash diets or extreme detoxes, and I hope that the message I can send through my blog
is that it
's NOT necessary to deprive yourself; you don't have to give up
dessert in order to
be healthy.
They
are,
in order from best to worst: Vodka, gin, tequila, whiskey, other distilled spirits, dry cider, dry champagne, dry white wine, white wines, red wines,
dessert wines, beer.
If I
am going to have a sugary
dessert, I always apply 2 - 3 of these strategies
in order to get the best synergistic effect for keeping my blood sugar stable.

in order or time to fix your favorite Christmas
