Since the launch of Jelly Bean it's difficult to get excited about
devices getting Ice Cream Sandwich.

Earlier this week, Samsung named the
devices that were due to
get Ice Cream Sandwich in early 2012.
Suffice to say that anyone
getting their hopes up for an
Ice Cream Sandwich update on either
device should already be well past a point of understanding that may never happen.
The essence of the new method to
get Ice Cream Sandwich on the Nook Tablet is to allow the
device to bootup from an MicroSD card with the new OS on it.

get started with the
device right out of the box.
I definitely agree that the current
devices that have

get this update, my Amaze 4G would enjoy a jar of jelly beans
I understand Samsung (and HTC for that matter) not wanting to commit to anything at this point, but I hope to see every
device that's already been chosen for an
Ice Cream Sandwich update
gets selected for Jelly Bean as well.
I wouldn't mind
getting one, if in the announcement of the
device they said, «upgradeable to
Ice Cream Sandwich immediately» or something of that stature, even though that probably won't be true with Samsung's future.
Once again, the Android hackers at xda - developers have managed to
get Android 4.0 functioning on an older
device, and while this is definitely an alpha build, the Evo 4G with
Ice Cream Sandwich has touchscreen functionality, carrier service, Wi - Fi, Bluetooth, and audio output — there doesn't seem to be any mention of Android Market, so that might still be on the fritz.
The One X international model packs the Tegra 3 and all Android developers have already started working on
Ice Cream Sandwich custom ROMs and we also, as users, are hoping that with every release we will
get better performance and stability out of the upcoming custom firmware editions for the quad core
device.
Users of the Sensation 4G on T - Mobile have already
gotten their upgrade from the carrier, and several other HTC
devices are set to receive
Ice Cream Sandwich later this year.
Though the Samsung Nexus S will be
getting Ice Cream Sandwich in just a few weeks» time, Google's first flagship Nexus
device is out of luck.
Samsung also delayed its just - leaked
Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy Note, though at least that
device is
getting some stylus - specific software out of it.
That's a major departure from
Ice Cream Sandwich updates, which took far longer to
get to the Xoom and the Nexus S. Unfortunately, it isn't clear if this update schedule will apply to all versions of these
devices — we've certainly seen before that carrier variants of Nexus
devices can see a much longer wait than their international and unlocked brothers.
The numbers shouldn't come as a huge surprise, given the number of shipping
devices relying on older versions of the OS, but we can't help but wish manufacturers would
get around to releasing
Ice Cream Sandwich
devices — and updates — sooner rather than later.
The
devices originally launched with
Ice Cream Sandwich, but Motorola promised everyone that
getting Android updates out faster would be a primary concern going forward and that promise is certainly being lived up to.
We hope this rumor is true if Samsung really can't
get Ice Cream Sandwich onto these
devices, but we do hope they're doing everything they can to make ICS a possibility.
I shouldn't be too surprised as people were still trying to
get Ice Cream Sandwich up and going on the trusty G1 last I checked, but it's still nice to know how dedicated the community is to supporting our
devices far beyond what OEMs and carriers typically do.
Much like the Droid, it was the first of Google's Nexus
devices to become available to Verizon customers, but it also marked the first time Android fans could
get their hands on the highly - anticipated
Ice Cream Sandwich platform update.
Just yesterday Samsung gave us a glimmer of hope that their 2010 flagship
devices — the Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab — could
get Ice Cream Sandwich as they went back to reevaluate the feasibility of the task.

gets a row at the yet - to - be-unveiled
