book hard on TV or radio or speaking at conferences or writing a lot of guest posts

The other thing too is to just be real, don't be a
sales machine, and talk
about your
book.
Sometimes it doesn't bother me at all that iUniverse and Author Solutions (and now Penguin
Books) have one - sided conversations with the world
about how great they are, because there are plenty of customers willing to step up and talk
about what it's really like to work with companies that habitually overcharge, under - deliver and make harassing
sales calls.
As a side note, this

about how he had a radio interview and got over 100
book sales from that interview, so he thought, Hey, why don't I buy an ad on this radio station — they're obviously my target audience.

do at libraries, the better your bookstore
sales will be, because at least some of the patrons who come hear
about your
book at your library talk will then go out and purchase the
book at their local bookstore.

book, I don't worry

They are choosy
about the authors they sign, so at the time I

about this, but honestly don't care much because they are moving from a nasty returns system in paper
books that allowed a 4 % profit to a new system that gives them upwards of 40 % profit margins in electronic

books); box sets are more
about aggregating existing readerships than finding new ones, unless you hit a list or special ranking or get exceptional PR — which all bring immediate results anyway.

about goodreads and these blogs is hearing from authors that they're having the same problems as me... it
does suck having to read such great
books and worrying that I'll never be as good... or seeing my friends making
sales when mine is going nowhere... but I know sometimes it's just the luck of the draw... it's hard sometimes to not compare... but sometimes it's good to know we're all so much alike
Be honest, don't oversell yourself, don't make claims
about your
book or your
sales that aren't true.
In most cases, a
book tour will not generate thousands of
sales, but it will get reviews for your
book and if
done correctly, it can generate a buzz on social media
about you and your
book.
