I don't know how a belief system that is founded on the principle of loving others — not just saying it, but actually
doing that — can
justify enslaving or supporting
slavery.
I don't want to be the type of person that
justifies slavery with something like what Jesus teaches or what science shows us.

does not get: when racists appeal to natural law to

And what
do you know, the Bible condones
slavery so this Book was once again used to

And the religious will always hide behind the bible to
justify their bigotry... like they
did to
justify slavery and segregation.
Then there is the school of Christianity characterized by Quakers, Congregationalists, and others, who understood that
slavery was a terrible evil and didn't pretend to
justify it with their religion.

do that with the Bible too and that's why the Bible has been used to
justify slavery, white supremacy, conquest after conquest, and the white man's burden in Africa
His attempts to
justify slavery are nonsensical and take the typical dishonest approach of equating
slavery with modern day employment or indentured servitude (glossing over verses that permit «owners» to beat their slaves so long as they
do not die immediately).
However, the fact that it has some quality principles
does not outweigh the violence, the inc est and the
slavery that is
justified.
If the USA had democratically voted to retain
slavery (as it could easily have
done) that would not
justify the continuation of
slavery.

slavery (Luke 12:47 - 48, Ephesians 6:5, 1 Timothy 6:1 - 2), selling your daughters into
slavery (Exodus 21:7 - 11), Biblical Incest (Genosis 19:36), Biblical polygamy (1 Kings 11:3), Forbidding women to speak in church (I Cor 14:34 - 35), stoning stubborn children (Duet 21:18 - 2), stoning your daughter if she loses her virginity out of wedlock (Deut 22:20 - 21) or killing the children born out of affairs (Rev 2:22 - 23).

The rationale and reasons given for
slavery - were construed so that the masters could
justify what they were
doing and gave structure to an institution that was for making money.
Does it mean the Aristotelian concept of «treating equals equally» (an understanding once used to
