i did soak the dates and even added a little bit more of them as they were really small.

I would maybe try alternative recipes that don't use
dates or possibly
soaking raisins and trying them x
You will get very sweet syrupy water and you can also blend the
dates after 24h have passed (or earlier is in hurry) so you will have a thicker syrup as well (I normally
do this to use all the
dates I
soaked in water).
After reading all the comments I decided to add a few extra tablespoons of maple syrup, I didn't have medjool
dates so used regular ones but added 4 - 5 extra and
soaked them in boiling water for 20 min.
We don't tend to
soak dates before blending because we find medjool
dates are gooey enough as they are.
And if you don't have time to wait for the
dates to
soak, just send them along with the water for a short 2 minute trip in the microwave and they'll be good to go!

date in a recipe, i narrowed my options down to making a
date - paste (which is similar to agave),
soaking the
dates in hot water for hours (no thanks ~ i'd like cookies sooner rather than later), or chopping them up in the food processor (sign me up).

do need to use other
dates, I recommend making a thick paste with them — put them in a bowl with a bit of hot water to soften them up;

do exist: I made your excellent recipie with fresh medjool
dates (they are in season right now) and you don't need to
soak them first.
Then used the zucchini juice to
soak the
dates (I didn't quite have a full cup juice so I added milk to make a full cup).

do is

dates, vanilla and salt if using and strain in through the nut milk bag, couldn't be easier!

Chana, if you were going to
do a large tart I would suggest buying soft
dates that don't need
soaking to blend versus using very dry firm ones that require
soaking as the crust will be much softer and trickier to serve if the
dates need
soaking.

soak a couple
dates with with hibiscus and green tea if you want a bit of sweet.
