VW reported sales of its TDI
diesel models accounted for 22 percent of the brand's sales in February, an 11 percent increase over last year.

Prior to the scandal, Volkswagen offered
diesel engines in six of its eight U.S.
models, and TDI - branded cars and crossovers
accounted for more than 20 percent of U.S. sales.
For heavy - duty pickup trucks and vans, the agencies are proposing separate gasoline and
diesel truck standards which phase in starting in the 2014
model year and achieve up to a 10 percent reduction for gasoline vehicles and 15 percent reduction for
diesel vehicles by 2018
model year (12 and 17 percent respectively if
accounting for air conditioning leakage).
VW says the approximately 482,000
diesels in question sold between the 2009 and 2015
model years (which includes a statistically insignificant number of Audi A3s)
accounts for about 20 percent of Volkswagen's U.S. sales in the same period.

diesel - powered
models account for more than half of Chrysler LLC sales.
These two
diesel models are expected to
account for around half of all S - Class sales in Australia.
