«We showed that these genes have unique expression patterns in
different brain regions at varying times during brain development.

In a new study published in Cell Reports, scientists
at the Gladstone Institutes identified
different types of neurons in a
brain region called the reticular thalamus.
The only way the team can be sure they have grown the equivalent of a fetal

Scientists measuring
brain activity have found that in many
regions, such as the sensory or motor cortex, activity sometimes oscillates
at different frequencies, forming wave - like patterns.

at the University of Bonn, and his group explored the temporal and spatial variability of the importance of the
brain's
different regions.

at different regions of the
brain to excite
brain tissue.
The researchers presented the overlapping streams
at two
different rhythms — two images per second and 1.5 images per second — allowing them to identify
brain regions responding to those stimuli.
At the cellular level, although they share canonical types of inhibitory interneurons (INs) and excitatory principal neurons (PNs), it remains largely unknown to what extent a single type in
different brain regions displays similarity in gene expression, axonal shape, connectivity, and developmental origins.
Next, they played high - frequency sounds
at different amplitudes and carried out
brain scans to pinpoint which
brain regions were most responsive to loud noises.
Researchers
at University of California San Diego School of Medicine have demonstrated that distinct types of glioblastoma, the most common form of
brain cancer in adults, tend to develop in
different regions of the
brain.
The Montreal Neurological Institute plans to free up its findings, including data that point to connections between
brain regions communicating
at different neural rhythms.
Most of these approaches define a conscious
brain as an integrated
brain, where groups of cells in many
different regions activate to form a cohesive pattern, explains Marcello Massimini, a neurophysiologist
at the University of Milan in Italy.
In a virtual arena,
at - risk populations keep to the edges and appeared to navigate using
different brain regions
«We know, however, that there are many
different brain regions and each one of them develops
at a
different rate.
Monkeys typically find other monkeys impossible to ignore, and this experiment was no exception: the monkeys often failed
at the reward task because they looked
at the faces, especially if the faces depicted emotion. When humans are torn between paying attention to two
different things, it triggers a «conflict» circuit in a
brain region called the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (dACC) which is part of a larger
brain structure controlling rational thought and emotions.Using a tiny sensor implanted in the dACCs of the monkeys, Platt's group was able to measure the electrical activity of single neurons.
By looking
at activation of
different brain regions while test subjects were exposed to
different listening conditions, Dr. Johnsrude's research has revealed that the early processing of sound, which occurs in a
brain region called the primary auditory cortex, depends on higher - level linguistic knowledge encoded in other
regions of the
brain.

New York, NY (February 1, 2012)-- For decades, researchers have debated whether Alzheimer's disease starts independently in vulnerable
brain regions at different times, or if it begins in one
region and then spreads to neuroanatomically connected areas.
Researchers
at the University of Zurich have now shown how peoples» motives can be identified as they are characterized by a specific interplay between
different brain regions.
«We've found that when the
brain is deprived of input, whether visual or auditory, those
regions that would normally process that input don't seem to have any trouble
at all accepting a
different type of sensory input,» says Lomber.
Wilder Penfield was the first neurosurgeon to explore the neural locus of epilepsy

different types of neurons in one
brain region could explain how multiple neurological disorders occur
at the same time.
Research is beginning to show the connection In a 2005 study, researchers
at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif., used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), which measures activity in
different areas of the
brain, to see whether subjects could learn to control a
brain region involved in pain and whether that could be a tool for altering their pain perception.

Using a technology called functional Near - InfraRed Spectroscopy (fNIRS), which uses infrared light to track changes in blood oxygen in
different parts of the
brain to provide a measure of what
brain regions are becoming more activated (consuming more oxygen) during certain tasks, the investigation will compare the
brain patterns of children with ASD and typical children who have similar imitation scores and eyetracking patterns, to determine whether children with ASD process the same imitation tasks differently from typically developing children,
