I developed a generic model for emissions prediction based on thermodynamic principles (fundamental research), but using empirical constants so as to ensure its valid
application to
different engines (applied research).
The V - 6's noise signature was still being fine - tuned (largely through the use of
different mufflers, though intake noise also filtered into the mix) at the time of our drive, but it's safe to say that this
engine sounds better and more aggressive here than in any other GM
application.
That allowed us to have the best responsiveness of the
engine when you accelerate and there is something that is much more complex compared to the other V - 8
applications, but it is what allowed us to be
different from the others.»
Differences in tuning for those two
different types of
engine applications are dramatic.

engine bay * Subtly curved rear wheel arches with newly tooled side panels accommodate increased rear track of the uprated chassis and provide muscular stance * Distinctive «smoked steel finish» to all exterior «brightware», including the first automotive

Many
different combinations of
engine location and driven wheels are found in practice, and the location of each is dependent on the
application for which the vehicle will be used.
Keep in mind those modifications were made without any internal
engine work — just a
different air intake and a pulley swap, both of which are bolt - on
applications.
Unique clutch and torque converter specifications matched to the torque capacity of the Stingray's LT1 6.2 L naturally aspirated
engine and the Z06's LT4 supercharged
engine distinguish the
applications for the
different Corvette models.
With several
different applications planned, we think it's not out of the question one of those new
engines could be called the LT7 and configured for the Z06X.
