In the downstairs gallery, Henry presents a group of mostly nocturnal landscape paintings that take into account how
artists as
different from one another as Frederic Remington
and Ed Ruscha have influenced how we see the West, while Minimalists such as Donald Judd
and Dan Flavin have transformed how visitors
and locals experience it thanks to Marfa's Chinati Foundation, a pilgrimage site for
international art tourists.
Originating from London, Martin Travers is an
international mural
artist who has lived
and worked in many
different countries
and his love for working with communities has kept him close to the
locals.
With
different expressive media, references
and semiotics, they create artworks in full dialogue between them, negotiating this trend that has emerged in recent years in the
international art scene, in which handicraft, folklore, history, the folk,
and the
local culture, stand shoulder to shoulder
and coexist, from the 90s in New British Scene, but also later through individual cases of
artists who originated form the periphery of the Globe.
The exhibition will embed itself «within the fabric of the city
and public circulation»
and will include close to 50
different artists and collectives presenting the fruits of their three - month residencies, which brought together 35
international artists and 11
local Istanbul - based ones for a period of «intensive research, production,
and public engagement».
Various
local and international street
artists, graffiti
artists and muralists will transform the walls of
different neighborhoods in Rabat, Morocco.
The centre presents exhibitions of
local, national
and international artists for many
different audiences
and ages with a wide - ranging programme of activities
and events (films, talks, music, theatre, performance
and dance).
