As God prehends the universe at the instant the piano teeters, he sees the various possible ways this little drama could be played out, sees all the ramifications
of the possible scenarios, and realizes that some ways the
action might unfold are better than others, that is, some
outcomes would produce a future which when he, God, prehended it would make his experience more rich, more harmonious, more beautiful than his experience would be were alternative
outcomes to produce quite
different futures.
The second question is related to the above: a «free market» baseline
of justice is about procedure - how
outcomes are arrived at, who is involved in making decisions, has rights over their own
actions, how
actions are agreed by parties etc. (or something like that) whereas equality is an
outcome, that may or may not be achieved under various procedural arrangements, and may or may not be viewed as desirable by people who hold
different views about what forms
of society - specifications over who has what rights to do what to who.
The failure
of individuals with lower intelligence to appropriately follow a consistent strategy and estimate the future consequences
of their
actions accounted for these
different outcomes.
All
of these contexts utilize the same gene - based principles
of energy metabolism — the biochemical machinery that we all share — but because they all involve
different starting points as well as
different goals or possible
outcomes, they often require
different action plans.
I devised courses
of action based on
