As you can see, I've kept the «The Good» and «the Bad»
sections, but have removed the separate scores for
different aspects
of game the
game.
Certain levels require Yoshi to take on a
different form, such as an umbrella, a motorcycle, or a Mega Yoshi, and these
sections represent some
of the
game's highest points so far.
There is a big drop in the difficulty compared to previous
games in the series, most
of the beginning
sections of the
game can be a breeze if you pay attention to types and weaknesses
of different Pokémon.
Also, at certain points in the
game, you will have to take on
different styles
of gameplay (such as a SCHMUP

The tutorial
section of the
game drags on a bit, the entire middle (Mexican Revolution) portion

game felt out
of place and didn't really add much to the story, and the gameplay has fits
of schizophrenia (3

of the dead eye mechanic??? not good).
In past
games, each player was in a
different section of the board, based on their dice rolls.
And Kovac is a character you run into pretty quickly in the first hour or so
of gameplay and he is the one who has surived the island the longest and will give you
different hints as to how you can do the same thing in the form
of his survival guide which you will find pages from throughout the
game, which are made into entertaining little cartoon series explaining you the importance
of different sections of the gameplay.
I'll never know the difference, but I can say this build
of the
game felt well paced: the
game offers a lot
of variety, with the aforementioned platforming
sections including your typical vanishing platforms, the sticky - tongue pole - swinging, sliding
sections, and simple puzzles, and the action segments, like the one that ended the level I played, which involved a slew
of ghosts gunning for our hero on a circular platform that turned in two
different directions between the center and edge.
There are some platforming
sections and even a little bit
of first - person shooting to be done (the
game's air - powered shotgun enables you to fill it with many
different types
of ammo, ranging from rocks and spuds to pieces
of glass), but really this is a
game about tenseness, fear and the overwhelming desire to escape.
