I purchased two heavy fences a few years ago and used them in our garden but decided this year to hang them on
my dining room wall so I could enjoy them every day.
I needed something massive for my empty
dining room wall so I took a natural grapevine wreath I had stored away from a Fall Shoot and created this wreath using an assortment of evergreens and similar to how I decorated the fireplace mantel, I inserted a few roses and football mums along the bottom of the wreath.

we have just built our house & we're almost at second fix carpentry stage and i had originally planned on a salvaged brick
wall but i have that in our
dining room and it was workin out too expensive,
so then i thought vertical planks but i much rather the horizontal planks now since seeing them on your blog - thank you for the wonderful inspiration.

room and
dining room are currently agave green and I'm
SO ready for a change!!
I've decided on a paint color for the
Dining Room,
so before long, the
wall behind them will be a soft shade of robin's egg blue.
Kathleen appears to have very bright
walls so she does need the extra color in her

If the kitchen was going to remain where it is, that
wall was needed for the stove
so removing it wasn't ideal, but if we move the stove to the
dining room, that in - between
wall could be opened up to make the two
rooms feel more like one space (although the kitchen actually extends beyond that
wall towards our fridge and the outside door, I'll have to draw out the
room floor plan
so you can visualize better).
And it was as open a floorplan as I'd ever want (living
room /
dining room) and
so airy, with a host of clever features (like a two - sided cabinet that had a door in the kitchen in which to store the clean dishes and a glass door in the
dining room from which you could easily set the table), but my biggest favorite were the plank
walls, nothing really, really fancy but in every
room of the house and each
room painted a soft pastel color.
So across from the saturated high - gloss library, the
dining room walls are a soft blush shade, and the
dining chairs a more muted turquoise.
The gas hob is positioned on the island
so that you can see through to the
dining room when cooking, rather than face a
wall — particularly useful when guests visit.
So here is our «awesome» new accessory, happily hanging on a little chunk of
wall space between our living and
dining rooms...

Just this weekend we FINALLY tore down a
wall between our kitchen and a windowless bedroom to create a
dining room and I was
so happy to see this post because I was trying to describe it to hubby and as soon as he saw it, he was on board!
Ok
so first things first, about my
dining room... you will notice it is rather bare right now and nothing is on the
walls.
After first seeing your bookcases I told my husband that I wanted to enclose the
dining room (open to the living
room)
so that I had a
wall big enough to do the same.
I can think of
so many uses: on my bedside table to inspire me daily; on an old luggage rack as a cute side table by my favorite chair; as a centerpiece on my
dining table to hold the things that seem to live there; hung on the
wall over the buffet in my
dining room; on the entry table near our front door to catch outgoing mail and keys.
Not
so loving the orange
wall through the red door, but I love the red door with the gray
walls... can't quite figure out the use of this
room... is it a
dining room?
Our poor
dining room walls have been bare for
so long and I was hoping to find something fun like this to do.
We are currently renovating our
dining room because of a ceiling problem and I want to add a
wall of bookcases to make it feel cozy and
so the
room feels like a
room you can enjoy!

So, basically, our kitchen, living
room and
dining rooms will all share
walls.
It's not a huge space though,
so once we tear down the
wall between the kitchen and living
room, I might move our
dining table there and put a smaller round table here.
So, yeah, imagine the awkward coat closet gone and beefier wainscotting in the
dining room (The current stuff is just painted on the
wall and doesn't do it for me.).
