I understand Steve Jobs was on life support then, but it was a pretty underwhelming event with a small crowd, and also a very
disappointing phone announcement.

If I had been waiting patiently for the Droid Bionic since its
announcement 8 months ago, I would be a little bit
disappointed that the Droid Bionic is basically the same
phone at the Motorola Atrix (minus the 4G) which was released back in February... oh and it was cheaper.
The
phone will be running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which is part of the reason why the March release date is so
disappointing, because that will be coming up on Google I / O and the expected
announcement of Android 5.0, although Sony has promised an upgrade to 4.2 «soon after launch».
However, if another «U»
phone is indeed in the works, it's extremely unlikely that HTC would tease its
announcement seeing how that would certainly lead to many people being extremely
disappointed by an underwhelming reveal.
