Though mostly unproven, the eyes belong to those who seem to know what makes a good
disaster film work.

work.
And while a close look at Wiseau's
film would make Franco's tribute more meaningful, «The
Disaster Artist» largely
works because it brings us closer to Tommy while reveling in the same ingredients that have turned him into an icon.
There's little doubt, ultimately, that the character
works best in extremely small doses and yet much of the narrative is focused entirely on his somewhat obnoxious (and completely unsympathetic) exploits, which ensures that large swaths of The
Disaster Artist completely fail to completely capture and sustain one's interest - although it's hard to deny the effectiveness of certain making - a-picture sequences in the
film's midsection (eg the shooting of the infamous «oh, hi Mark» scene).
For anyone who's seen Efron's
work — most recently That Awkward Moment, quite possibly the year's worst
film to date — this could spell
disaster for the
film, which already seems like it's on a galactic crash course.
Now lets be honest here, there is a standard setup for
disaster films which is usually always followed and somehow keeps on
working.
The
Disaster Artist is the first time James has
worked with his brother, Dave, on a
film, after the younger Franco intentionally took roles in other projects in an effort to make a name for himself.

disaster epic The Wave, doesn't smuggle the same genre - defying intelligence that his prior effort did — lots of Tomb Raider is numb, bumbling and ripped from better movies — but Uthaug and his production team make good
work of bringing the world of Tomb Raider to life.

work in progress» premiere the upcoming South by Southwest

disaster, but it proves my theory that
film goers should never pay attention to the voice behind the curtains and let the finished product speak for itself and there's something about this

disaster that was AFTER.EARTH, a
film rumored to have been directed more by star Will Smith than by director - for - hire Shyamalan.
