cone mould with non-stick spray then carefully use the alfoil as a support to wrap each dough
disc around the mould, gently pressing together the overlapped section of dough to seal (you need to leave the alfoil wrapped around the outside to bake the
cones but be careful not to get alfoil
in between the overlapped section!).
Cone cells
in the retina each carry a stack of membranous
discs: as they grow they shed older
discs and generate new ones.
The first object encountered
in the installation is a large black
cone rising up from a flat circular
disc: a witch's hat blown up to the size of absurdity, referencing both lighthearted escapist fantasy as well as the historical trauma of persecution.
Multiple readings can be inferred depending on the artist's presentation within a particular context: the
disc can appear as a watermill, a comma, or a buzz - saw blade; the
cone as a whirlpool, an arrow, or the top of a skyscraper; an Adirondack chair, upended and suspended
in space, takes on the form of a constellation through a superimposed pattern of diagrammatic lines.
