Scientists have
discovered traces of life more than half - a-billion years old that could change the way we think about how all animals evolved on earth.

Burkert, for instance, has
traced the transmission
of oriental art and religion to Greece during the eighth and seventh centuries B.C. Archeologists have exhumed friezes decorated with near - eastern «Tree
of Life» motifs at Greek shrines, and images
of lion - hunting have been
discovered at other Greek sites.
And by
tracing the remains
of pigments in fossils, called melanosomes, scientists have in recent years begun to breathe new
life into the dun - colored relicts,
discovering the Technicolor hues in prehistoric birds» wings and the clever shading that veiled ancient mosasaurs from predators.
NASA researchers triggered international headlines in 1996 when they
discovered, among other possible indicators
of life,
traces of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (multiringed carbon molecules found in
living cells) along surface fractures in ALH84001.
Earlier this year, researchers
discovered that periods when the ocean had high levels
of trace elements — like zinc, copper, manganese and selenium — seemed to overlap with periods
of high productivity, including the Cambrian explosion, when most groups
of living animals first appeared.
In addition to some previously described nematodes, which scientists had never before seen
living at this extreme depth, the researchers
discovered a new species
of nematode that subsists on microbes and requires only
trace amounts
of oxygen.
We have yet to
discover a single
trace of alien
life, despite the extremely high probability that it exists somewhere.
We never learn anything about Harry's past as a husband and father, and intuit only a few
traces of his background as a cop and a former alcoholic, but we
discover a great deal about his emotional
life in relation to his friends and former colleagues, which is all the film really cares about.
