However what is more interesting to see is the amount of
discussion that has gone into this
post by the form of

by Jerry Saltz and because Jerry participated in the
comments discussion to this
post on Facebook, bringing his devoted fan base with him.
Presumably the
discussion thread addressing Senator Inhofe's
comments before the senate and the multiple characterizations of it
posted here passed your test for scientific or newsworthy content while my [discarded]
post citing Dr Chris Landsea's
comments concerning his reason for resigning from the IPCC were considered to be of no value
by either standard of editorial judgement.
I do agree there's often snarking and tetchiness in the
comments, sometimes from those cheerleading the basic message of the
posts themselves - which is a shame, because important nuances in the
posts and subsequent
discussion are drowned out with this sort of debate, and genuinely curious but under - informed folk are discouraged
by it.
- Curiously, there is a
comment in the «Kaufman»
post thread that appears nearly two weeks after the
post first appeared and well after the the initial
discussion had moved - on,
by a gent with the handle «Reed Young.»
Hence I
post on topics that are of current interest or have guest
posts (something I can put together in 30 minutes), which typically (but not always) provides the impetus for a provocative and interesting
discussion owing to thoughtful and stimulating
comments by the denizens.
However, as you can see
by reading carefully through the 561
comments on the Montford
post to which the current
post is a rebuttal, Gavin has declined to extend the
discussion at RC and has not
posted follow up
comments from a number of substantive and polite commentaters here.
Part of the material presented here has was inspired
by posts written for www.RealClimate.org, but the paper has evolved over time based on input from
comments in the review and
discussion process, where several of the authors of the papers discussed here have had their say.
Perhaps it would be helpful if moderators had handy a list of links to
posts in prior threads, and if an over-posted issue is raised give the person the links to the
discussion and tell him to first do his homework
by reading the threads, perhaps even disallowing questions that have already been adequately answered or assertions that have already been refuted, or
comments that do not contain an explanation as to why the existing treatment is inadequate.
The
